An important component of every hospital is quality maternity care. In the case of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, new mothers in the surrounding South Los Angeles area will be able to deliver their babies in a state-of-the-art facility that welcomes them and their family members with high-quality, compassionate care—near their homes.

With a milestone $2 million award to the Healthy Babies, Healthy Beginnings initiative, Kaiser Permanente’s award provided critical funding necessary to expand the maternity unit at the hospital. The funds provided for the addition of:

  • Private labor and delivery rooms
  • Postpartum rooms that accommodate visiting family members
  • Two dedicated C-section rooms
  • Nurseries on two floors

The MLK Community Health Foundation is proud of Kaiser Permanente's collaboration with the hospital, and celebrates Kaiser’s generous partnership.
