Citi Shines National Spotlight on MLKCH
Did you notice anyone familiar in your April 30 copy of Time magazine? From the end of April through the end of May 2018, Dr. Elaine Batchlor, our hospital’s founding CEO, is a prominent feature in a national, multimedia
Citi Progress Makers campaign celebrating the impact our hospital is having in creating a healthy Los Angeles. Citi's Progress Makers highlights ambitious leaders and organizations who have a transformative impact on their community. Recent Progress Makers campaigns have featured Malala’s Fund, founded by Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, and MDG Ocean Bay Apartments, an affordable housing development in New York City rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.
Subscribers to the Los Angeles Times may have seen the full-page advertisement placed by Citi in the April “Food Bowl” supplement. Time magazine readers will see Dr. Batchlor in the April 30 special issue of "The 100 Most Influential People.”
At our 2018 Dream Lunch on January 12, guests saw a sneak peek of the Citi-produced video that was included in the digital and television campaigns. The video is also part of the feature story, “The Health of a Community Starts with Access to Healthcare,” on the Progress Makers website. National televisions placements included
CBS's "Face the Nation" on April 29; NBC's "Meet the Press" on April 29, and CNN's "Newsroom" throughout the week of April 23.
The ads could also be seen on NBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and MSNBC in local markets including Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and San Francisco.
Citi was an early backer of MLKCH, providing a large investment of New Markets Tax Credit equity through Citi Community Capital. That funding supported capital projects such as purchasing an MRI machine and building out the Maternity Department.
This extensive recognition for our hospital, and for the leadership of our CEO Dr. Elaine Batchlor, offers another example of how we’re fulfilling our vision to be a national leader in developing a model of innovative, collaborative community healthcare.
