Working Nurse Highlights MLKCH Technology

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH) was the lead hospital featured recently in a Working Nurse magazine article titled, "Wired Hospitals: From Science Fiction to the Bedside."

"We're proud of how high-tech our hospital is—most of all, I appreciate every day the way our staff uses these tools to ensure the best patient care." –Dr. Elaine Batchlor, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital CEO

Opening with a dramatic scene involving a robot, a nurse, and a quick diagnosis that could save the patient’s life, the article showcases MLKCH’s inclusion among only 27 hospitals in the nation to be awarded the Hospitals & Health Networks and American Hospital Association's 2017 "Most Wired" designation.

Tools that quickly enable the hospital’s medical staff to access time-sensitive consultation from external experts—in this case a neurologist—are among the many ways in which South LA patients receive the quality care for which our hospital has quickly become known.

The article highlighted several Los Angeles area hospitals—including MLKCH, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC), Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)—using technology in ways that affect how nurses do their jobs.
